Beyond the Classroom: Unconventional UX Research Strategies that Drive Real World Impact
DescriptionHuman Factors students are taught solid, conventional research methods during their education. However, as practitioners, the dynamic nature of industry demands adaptability and a continuous refinement of your research toolkit. Evolving business objectives, the competitive nature of product development, the role of UX researchers as strategists, in addition to the pressures of timelines, budgets and stakeholder demands, require practitioners to adapt their methods, or learn new ones to suit each situation.
For this panel discussion, please join 5 practitioners with UX research experience as we discuss methods that have been useful in industry.
The highlighted methods are as follows:
1. Remote Participatory Design
2. Kano Survey
3. Multi-Generational Product Testing
4. Competitive Analysis
5. Jobs to be Done
Through mini case study presentations, each panelist will elaborate on when and why a method was used, how it contributed to the project, and when and how you might consider using it at your company.
