Investigating Knowledge Gain and User Satisfaction in UAS Safety Modules: A Pilot Study
DescriptionThis study investigates how incorporating relevant images and progress indicators into safety training modules for Unmanned Aircraft Systems impacts knowledge gain and user satisfaction. Thirty participants were included in this study which used a randomized pretest-posttest 2x2 factorial design. While the findings indicate that relevant images and progress indicators did not have a significant impact on knowledge gain, their combination significantly increased satisfaction levels. These results suggest that incorporating multimedia elements in online safety training can enhance user experience. Though there were no significant differences observed in knowledge gain, future research could explore participant focus areas using eye tracking to identify opportunities for training optimization. Further investigation into additional training modules could offer a comprehensive understanding of training effectiveness. It is important to maintain consistency across providers given the content is standardized by FAA regulations, to ensure the quality and efficacy of training programs.
