Transfer of Learning on Driver’s Mental Model of ADAS
DescriptionThis research was conducted to investigate the impact of transfer of learning on drivers' mental models of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADASs). The study was designed to understand how existing trained mental models influenced drivers' understanding of new (i.e., unexperienced) ADASs. The primary research question was whether training on Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) translated to understanding of different components of other ADAS systems. Transfer of learning refers to applying existing knowledge and skills to new situations, with the outcome being either positive or negative based on the similarity between the original and new contexts. Through exploring different types of transfer of learning, the study aimed to provide insights for consumer education.
