Investigating the Effects of Binaural Beats on Driver’s Drowsiness
DescriptionOlder adults have unique challenges associated with the use of emerging autonomous vehicles (AVs). This study synthesizes the state-of-the-knowledge concerning the types of barriers faced by adults aged 65 years and older in adopting AVs. A systematic review was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) method to locate articles published between 2014 and 2023. Nine databases were searched and 23 relevant papers were identified. Findings reveal that barriers are multifaceted, encompassing technical, psychological, and social aspects. Distrust and safety concerns emerged as primary barriers. Also, an anticipated learning curve was identified as a potential obstacle that could inhibit adoption. These results emphasize the importance of creating targeted solutions to enhance the usability and acceptance of AVs for this demographic. This also review highlights the need to address identified barriers through education, marketing, and community engagement to foster older adults’ confidence in AV technology.
