Leveraging ChatGPT for Qualitative Data Analysis to Assess Its Potential Efficiency and Scalability
DescriptionAI has transformed research methods by providing advanced tools for analyzing complex, unstructured datasets. ChatGPT, a machine learning-based AI chatbot, processes extensive datasets to respond to user inquiries, making it a valuable asset in qualitative research. This presentation describes ChatGPT's applications in qualitative analysis. We used a simulated dataset of children’s favorite colors to evaluate ChatGPT's analytical capabilities. The findings showed that ChatGPT's qualitative analysis demonstrated consistent theme generation and understanding with few differences.

Compared to larger datasets, ChatGPT showed rapid response times and adaptability, indicating its potential for broader application in qualitative research. However, the use of AI in this field raises some ethical concerns, particularly regarding data privacy and consent, highlighting the need for data management protocols in sectors like academia and government.

Overall, ChatGPT significantly enhances qualitative research, promoting efficiency and innovation. This lecture will describe ChatGPT’s influence on qualitative analysis, emphasizing study results and future implications.
