50. Understanding Patient Characteristics Influencing Adherence for Remote Monitoring: Interviews with Providers

DescriptionEffective management of chronic health conditions demands the investment of significant amounts of time and effort, in addition to the prescription of potential treatment regimens. Technologies such as remote patient monitoring (RPM) have shown evidence of improving health outcomes, especially in underserved communities. Despite these findings, there is a general gap in understanding barriers in the adoption, usage, and engagement in RPM technologies. Previous research focused on information from the patients specifically, the providers of RPM technologies can provide unique insight into the adoption, usage, and potential barriers that patients may experience but are not willing to share. To our knowledge there have been no studies investigating the barriers to RPM engagement from the perspective of providers. This study aims to describe the experiences and perspectives of healthcare providers who have utilized RPM in the provision of chronic care management in the United States.
