64. Identifying Parenting Challenges During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Survey-Based Study
SessionPoster Session 2
DescriptionThe COVID-19 pandemic brought significant changes in parenting practices worldwide. Shutting down schools, work-from-home regulations, and social isolation due to lockdowns caused dramatic changes to the lifestyles of parents and children. With lockdowns and restrictions becoming the new norm, parents faced unique challenges and shifts in their day-to-day roles. These changes not only affected the dynamics of parenting but also limited access to essential needs like food, healthcare, and education, thus increasing stress levels among parents. Challenges associated with accessing healthcare services during these times also became significant stressors for parents. Moreover, emotional distancing and social isolation cause behavior changes among children, resulting in increased perceived stress on parents. The parents tend to feel more responsible for ensuring the well-being of the children since their physical activities are restricted. This study aims to explore the parenting challenges associated with caring for children born during the COVID-19 pandemic.
