76. Field Assessment of Static Postures and the Frequency of Trunk and Upper Arms Movements Among Construction Workers
SessionPoster Session 2
DescriptionConstruction industries are sectors with the highest prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders. Construction work exposes workers to multiple physical risk factors such as extreme postures, and repetitive motions. To minimize the impact of occupational hazards on the development of MSDs, one of the most important of practice is to obtain quantitative information of exposure to physical risk factors. The quantitative assessment in real working context face some criticalities: construction sites are characterized by large outdoor areas, making difficult to transmit sensors data to a workstation; number, and body placement of sensors can influence the workers’ ROM or can be incompatible with PPE, moreover in field, the time available for setup and calibration is limited. Based on these considerations, we propose a measurement setup, which exploits a limited number of IMU, for the continuous assessment of exposure to non-neutral posture according to the regulations proposed by the ISO 11226 and EN 1005-4.
