87. Looking to the Future: Design of a Shore-Based Decision Support for Maritime Traffic Monitoring
SessionPoster Session 2
DescriptionMost of the world's goods are transported by water, regular ferry services take us to other shores, fishing boats ensure the supply of fish, recreational boaters enjoy their leisure time... It is easy to see that waterways can be quite crowded. Support from the land is needed. However, as this complexity constantly increases, so does the need for state-of-the-art equipment to help vessel traffic service personnel keep track of everything. The LEAS project team therefore aims to develop an AI-based decision support system to improve hazard detection and the identification of appropriate solutions. However, as the best technology is useless if it is not adapted to human capabilities, a large part of the work is dedicated to the development of an innovative human-machine interface. Thanks to the human-centred design approach and cooperation with users, our system should be intuitive to use, understandable and accepted. The corresponding developmental process is presented.
