34. Identifying Embedded Biases in Healthcare Systems
DescriptionHuman factors (HF) professionals are well positioned to support the system level changes in clinical environments needed to facilitate the detection and investigation of potential disparities and guide the design of interventions. This includes through the anti-racist and equity centered design, diversifying and broadening participation within the field, and inclusion of equity praxis within our education and training. Additionally, as more HF professionals are embedded within hospital systems, incorporating an equity and anti-racist lens in our traditional systems analysis processes can support equity, safety, and patient and HCW experience.
