David Rempel
Biography
David Rempel, MD, MPH, CPE University of California, Berkeley
David Rempel is a Professor Emeritus in the College of Engineering at the University of California
at Berkeley and in the Department of Medicine at the University of California at San Francisco.
He is Board Certified in Ergonomics, Internal Medicine, and Occupational Medicine and is a
Fellow in the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, International Ergonomics Association, and
the American College of Physicians. He was the director of the Ergonomics Graduate Training
Program at UC Berkeley from 1990 to 2014 and his research then expanded our understanding injuries related to work, especially injuries to the hand and arm, and the design and usability tools and products. He has consulted with Apple, Boeing, Logitech, Microsoft, and other
companies on product designs. In retirement, his activities are focused on renewable energy and the usability of the EV charge infrastructure. He is the Chair of the HFES Sustainability Technical Group. He has published and presented over 500 peer-reviewed scientific journal and conference papers. He was a member of the National Academy of Sciences’ Board
on Human Systems Integration from 2010 to 2018.
