Biography
Dr. Marilia Ramos is a Research Scientist at the John Garrick Institute for the Risk Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles. She manages and conducts research projects on complex systems modeling, risk assessment, and human reliability. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, with expertise on Human Reliability applied to oil and gas operations, from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil. Dr. Ramos has extensive experience on Quantitative Risk Assessment of oil refineries and pipelines operations, in particular modeling and quantification of consequences related to flammable/explosive and toxic substances. She is a former Postdoctoral research fellow of the Department of Marine Technology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), where she worked at the Marine Technology Risk, Safety and Asset Management Group and focused on autonomous vessels risk assessment and human-system interaction modeling.
