Katja Sednew
Biography
With a Master’s degree in Human Factors and Cognition from George Mason University and a dual Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish from Indiana University, Katja Sednew has spent the last 14 years working in the world of human factors and cognitive engineering in academia, federal government, and not-for-profit sectors. She enjoys bridging the gap that often exists between people and technology by understanding user needs and applying cognitive science (how and why humans make errors, process information, and make decisions) with the ultimate goal of safe, effective, and usable human-computer interaction. On a recent project for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Katja helped develop a cognitive model capable of estimating how much Flight Procedure design impacts pilot mental workload.
