Mohamed Rostom
Biography
Captain Mohamed Rostom is an alumnus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he earned his Master’s degree of Science in Aeronautics in 2020 with a specialization in Safety Management Systems. He holds a diploma in Satellite Navigation from 2001 and a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Science with a specialization in Air Traffic Control (ATC) from the Egyptian Aviation Academy, obtained in 1999. With a wealth of experience spanning approximately 14 years in the field of Air Traffic Management, Captain Rostom is an ICAO licensed Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO). Throughout his career, Captain Rostom has held various roles at the National Air Navigation Services Company (NANSC), including positions as a former Tower Controller, Approach Non-Radar, and Approach Radar Controller at Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport (SHM) in the south Sinai Peninsula. Additionally, he has served as a simulator pilot in the ATM Training Department and an En-route radar controller at the Cairo Area Control Center (CANC) in Egypt, where he also contributed as a member of the Safety team. A significant aspect of Captain Rostom's work at SHM involved coordinating with Multi-National Forces for Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and helicopter flight operations across the south Sinai area. Furthermore, he has represented NANSC at various international conferences and meetings, such as the Global Navigation Satellite System Conference in Hurghada, Egypt, where he discussed the challenges facing the European "Galileo" system compared to the American GPS. He has also represented NANSC in the NAVISAT MED/AFI meetings in Cairo. Captain Rostom is an active member of several prestigious professional organizations, including The United States Institute of Diplomacy & Human Rights, The International Society of Air Safety Investigators, and the Arab Institute of Navigation.
