Biography
Dr. Joseph Cafazzo is Executive Director and Founder of Healthcare Human Factors at the University Health Network (UHN), a teaching hospital of the University of Toronto. Since its founding in 2004, he has led the team in academic research and human factors design and evaluation services for private companies and public institutions, including national and provincial governmental agencies, start-ups and multi-national companies, and clinical patient safety leaders and policymakers.
At the University of Toronto, Dr. Cafazzo is a Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, and the Department of Computer Science, where he teaches and conducts research in the areas of clinical engineering, human factors, and health informatics. Since 2018, he has been the inaugural holder of the Wolfond Chair in Digital Health at UHN.
