Paul Green
Biography
Paul Green is a research professor/leader of the Human Factors Group at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute. He is also an adjunct professor/research professor in the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering. He conducts research on modeling driver performance to predict driver distraction and driver workload as well as other practical issues related to safety and usability. His research leads to improved research methods and evaluation procedures, as well as design recommendations and design standards (e.g., Society of Automotive Engineers Recommended Practices J2944, J2365). As part of his activities to get research into practice, he teaches the Human Factors Engineering Short Course (now in its 65th year), the flagship continuing education in the profession, as well as courses for undergraduate and graduate students. He is a past president of HFES and has served on the HFES Executive Council longer than any other member.
