Julie Gilpin-McMinn
Biography
Dr. Julie Gilpin-McMinn is a Technical Fellow for Human Factors and Ergonomics for Spirit Aerosystems. Julie earned her Ph.D. in Human Factors Psychology from Wichita State University in 1998. Over the course of her 27 year career at Spirit, formerly Boeing Wichita, Julie has been instrumental in setting a new standard in program development. Through collaboration with Engineering and Operations, she has continuously worked to incorporate original applications of human factors principles into the design and build processes. By consistently challenging traditional work practices, methods of analysis, and design with the implementation of innovative solutions, she has ensured the highest level of compatibility for systems requirements and human limitations. Julie has a history of success in collaborating with academia. Her recent areas of interest include human-robot collaboration, augmented reality, and industrial exoskeleton applications. Julie has held several leadership roles through HFES TIGs including chairing the Practitioner Engagement Committee. Most recently, she was elected to the Executive Council where she serves as Secretary/Treasurer.
