Jeannine Blake
Biography
Jeannine Blake is a PhD prepared nurse scientist with clinical background in surgical intensive care nursing. Dr. Blake received her PhD in 2022 from the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst and is now currently a PostDoctoral Research Fellow working in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and the Elaine Marieb Center for Nursing and Engineering Innovation at UMass Amherst. Dr. Blake is on a mission to improve patient outcomes and nursing workflow by disrupting the status quo using a nurse-engineer approach to employ innovative research methods and device development strategies. Dr. Blake’s program of research focuses on the safety of intravenous smart pumps used for acute care medicine. Dr. Blake employs various research methods to seek understanding of the user-device interaction along with novel laboratory-based methods to assess the accuracy and steadiness of fluid flow.
