Dr. Albert J. Boquet is a Professor of Human Factors and Behavioral Neurobiology at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. While at Embry-Riddle, in addition to being a professor, he has served as the Department Chair of the Human Factors and Systems Department and Associate Vice-President for Research for the three campuses. Before joining Embry-Riddle, he served as a principal investigator for the Federal Aviation Administration’s Civil Aerospace Medical Institute in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His work at the FAA included research on topics such as shiftwork and fatigue among Air Traffic Controllers and human error in aviation accidents. His work in safety and accident investigation included programs such as General Aviation, Helicopter Emergency Services, Air Tours, and Air Taxi, in addition to larger commercial operations (FAR Part 121). He has over 150 publications, presentations, and training series on topics relating to systems safety, human error in complex systems, fatigue, and fatigue management, system performance in healthcare, and the health consequences of stress. Dr. Boquet received his B.A. in Psychology from Nicholls State University in 1984, his M.A. in Experimental Psychology in 1990, and his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1991. He completed a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship in Biological Psychology funded by the National Institute on Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse and the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in 1995. He has conducted training for system safety, error management, and fatigue and shiftwork management across multiple industries, including aviation, oil and gas, healthcare, chemical processing, and materials processing. Dr. Albert Boquet’s research has encompassed all aspects of medicine, from biological factors to ergonomic analysis. Boquet's recent emphasis on medical human factors has lent a medical perspective to accident analysis and gives his work a well-rounded quality. Throughout his career, Dr. Boquet has presented at more than 200 conferences worldwide and has written over 150 publications and book chapters in the field of human factors.
