Christopher Baber
Biography
Chris Baber was awarded the Sir Frederic Bartlett medal by the Charted Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (UK) in 2013 in recognition of his research on human-computer interaction. He completed his PhD in 1990 looking into the potential uses of speech recognition in control rooms. This was undertaken at Aston University's Applied Psychology Unit. Immediately following this, he joined the University of Birmingham where has worked ever since. He has been lecturer, senior lecturer, reader, and chair in various Engineering departments and is currently Chair of Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing in the School of Computer Science. The title of his chair reflects the work he conducted into wearable computers in the early 2000s. More recently, his research has been concerned with sensemaking (in teams and when humans work with Artificial Intelligence) and human-agent teaming.
