SUMMARY:Breaking Barriers: A Spotlight on Young and Diverse Voices in Avi
 ation Human Factors
DESCRIPTION:Discussion Panel\n\nBeth Blickensderfer (Embry-Riddle Aeronaut
ical University), Bryan Gamelin (Honeywell Aerospace), Jayde King (U.S. Ai
r Force Research Laboratory), Vanesa Miksa (The Boeing Company), and Sabri
na Woods (National Transportation Safety Board)\n\nAviation human factors
professionals perform key roles in the design and implementation of aviati
on systems that include flight decks, training programs, safety protocols,
and much more. These professionals strive to enhance the human experience
within the aviation ecosystem, minimize errors, and maximize system perfo
rmance. This panel discussion will bring together a young and diverse set
of researchers and practitioners to describe and discuss their own profes
sional roles in aviation human factors research and practice. The panel w
ill offer a forum for dialogue and reflection on the importance of diversi
ty and inclusion within the human factors discipline and the broader field
of aviation. Another goal for the panel is to inspire the next generatio

The panelists will describe the opportunities and challenges that exist i
n this dynamic field, whether working in industry, research labs, or gover
